What feminism should really be like

Truth be told that I am a feminist at heart! Well in my own sense, at least. We girls do rule the world but is going out in protest bare naked does really make a statement?

If we really want equality between men and women, why not try acting more like men? When I say acting, its not like, 'okay, let's not wear a bra like them and have beer bellies' but let's try to aim something higher, intellectually, spiritually and emotionally.

One of the best examples of men to emulate would be their simplistic ways of living. Men are simple. At least from my observation of years of living with my father, brother, uncle and now, my life partner; who is currently sleeping on the couch beside me as I blog my thoughts. Sweetest moment in my day.

I had already known about their simplistic human nature but it truly became an awakening experience for me when I started anchoring my own house chores. As a person who values time and space, I divided certain days of the week to do a certain chore instead on bombarding myself with household workload all at the same time. After a year of the practise, I saw a pattern emerging prominently.

And lo and behold, most of these housework are the results of my own habits and hoarding! For instance, on Sundays, I would fold the piled up laundry and iron clothes. I realised my pile would accumulate 20-30% more clothes than my husband's. The funny thing is that, I still have loads of clothes on the rack or folded that has not been worn. Why do I need so much clothes?

Every morning, I would conduct a simple 30 minutes cleaning routine of clearing out the dining table and the coffee table, putting away stuff and doing a quick swipe here and there and also vacuum the carpet. Guess who's stuff that I put away? It was 85% mine! Guess who's hair and mess did I clean after? Yup, you guessed it right ladies, it was mine.

Now comes the gory part, the toilet. Well, I do clean my toilet bowl every 3 days, but I scrub the tiles and whatnot every 2 weeks or so. Cleaning toilets should be a breeze right? Especially that we clean ourselves with water and soap, so with that, in a way cleans the bathroom as well? No, its the opposite, as the product we use may clean our body, but the soap residues will actually accumulate and becomes the perfect breeding site for moulds and bacteria to thrive. But what causes the accumulation of residue again? It is from my hair products and bath stuff, all mine! Right.....

At this point, let's just skip the kitchen since its my ZONE in the house, also acts as my second office at this point in life. Like, hell yeah, where is Shereen again? Right, in her kitchenzz! Hahaha
Also, I don't think we need Sherlock to figure out who's stuff is it that will be most transported to the new house that we just bought. Yes, its mine.

From all the ramblings I have taken you through, thank you for reading up to this far. The main purpose of this small fit is because, I will be moving out in less than a week's time, Inshallah. There are so many things, which are mine... and I regret it.

Regret for buying so much, but using so little of it.

I regret that all the things that I own could not be brought to my new home nor to my eternal home akhirah, so why did I bother to buy so much?

I want to a feminist and a minimalist just like my husband. He has very little compared to what I have, yet he is at his happiest, always... Mashallah. =)

To more happiness and of less stuff. Cheers!
